New McDonald’s Crispy Chicken Sandwich Coming Soon

As we wrote about back in July, McDonald’s have an all new Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which now looks likely to come online in early 2021. Following in the wake of Wendy’s, Popeye’s, Zaxby’s, KFC and more – it’s almost fast food law that you have a crispy chicken on your menu these days.

Earlier this month, McDonald’s USA president Joe Erlinger confirmed such a product would see the light of day in early 2021, and details are now starting to come into view.

Chewboom report that the new sandwich details from McD’s, that being a “craveable crispy chicken fillet, topped with crinkle cut pickles and butter, all served on a toasted potato roll” sounds an awful lot like a crispy chicken sandwich test in Knoxville and Houston that ran December 2019 to January 2020.

During that test the brand offered the following two sandwiches according to Chewboom:

  • Crispy Chicken Sandwich – fried chicken filet topped with butter and crinkle-cut pickles on a toasted potato roll
  • Deluxe Crispy Chicken Sandwich – fried chicken filet topped with butter and crinkle-cut pickles plus tomatoes, lettuce and mayo on a toasted potato roll

USA Today notes that the sandwich test in Texas was priced at $3.49 during the trial too. Right now McDonald’s features two main chicken sandwiches, the dollar menu spicy chicken (which we love) and the Buttermilk Crispy Chicken (pictured). We can’t wait, 2021 is looking like another tasty year!
