Popeyes new Cajun Flounder Sandwich and Cajun Crispy Shrimp

UDPATE: see our full review of both of these new Cajun products here.

More seafood special news – this time from one of our favorites in the business – Popeye’s. Last year we loved their wicked shrimp and couldn’t get enough of the little fried morsels.

New for the Lent season in 2021 are two all new items and three ways to enjoy them:

  • Cajun Founder Sandwich – flounder fish fillet served on a warm and toasted buttery brioche bun, with crisp barrel cured pickles and tartar sauce, $5.49
  • Cajun Crispy Shrimp – eight piece butterfly shrimp golden fried, $5.00
  • Cajun Crispy Shrimp Surf & Turf – four piece Cajun Crispy Shrimp with two piece chicken tenders, $5

Prices listed above are for the dinner size and go up from there for larger combos. Prices are from our local Salt Lake City store. We’ll be testing these this week and giving you in the scoop on how these new additions stack up!

The brand writes the following about the new seafood proteins: “Caught in the icy waters of the Pacific, Popeyes flounder filet is light, flakey and seasoned in a blend of the Louisiana brand’s Cajun seasoning. Dusted in a crispy southern coating and fried up golden brown, the Cajun Flounder Sandwich delivers the flavor and crunch one would expect to find at a local dockside fish shack.

If you’re not sure about dipping your toes in the water, look out for Popeye’s “insurance” at checkout. Purchase the 15c insurance add on, and if you dont like your fish sandwich, Popeyes will replace your fish sandwich with a tried and true Chicken Sandwich for free.
