Arby’s Sweet Potato Waffle Fries review

Arby's Sweet Potato Waffle Fries

This new side dish from Arby’s started life as a test product way back in May 2019. That test obviously went pretty well, with the chain releasing the product chain-wide just over a year later in June 2020.

I recently picked up a medium order of these alongside the new Beer Battered Fish Sandwich (great by the way!). I’ll say up front I wasn’t expecting too much, I’m not really a waffle fry kinda guy. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by this new side dish.

The sweet potatoes offer a natural sweetness (duh) that’s a fun change of pace from the regular old French fry. The fries I received seemed to be fairly well done which I hope is the standard cooking practice overall. This meant the fries had a lot of textural interest, plenty of caramelized edges and crunch; yet the interior still yielded just a little soft sweet potato. The contrast between the crisp and soft was fairly addictive.
